The weekend before Halloween, we headed out to to Sweetberry Farms in Marble Falls. I love this place. With the drought this year, there weren’t as many pumpkins as years past, but it was still fun.
Jude rode a barrel train on his own. It almost made me cry to watch him drive away on his own (although it was only going 1 mile an hour), waving to mommy and daddy. At the end of the day, Jude picked out his favorite pumpkin and we ate strawberry popsicles.

We love Museum Day. By we, I mean Joe and I. Jude…not so much. It’s probably because he’s just getting over being sick, but he was just grouchy for most of the day and non-compliant. Buck up, young man! You’ve got 15 more years of this, so you better start to love museums. We only went to the LBJ Presidential Library today due to heat and bad attitudes. It was my first time going, and it was actually interesting to see all the events that occurred during his presidency.
The Eggmen, a Beatles cover band, played outside and we had free snacks that were invented in the 60s (slim jims, ho-hos, poptarts, pringles, & doritos). Gotta love the crazy Austinites that dance like they just emerged from some time machine.

A few weekends ago, we met up with my friend Cherry and her kids at Zilker. Cherry was in town from Houston to visit some friends and family who recently had new babies. We rode the train and played on the playground with Hayden and Payne.
We had a good time (although Jude got away from me for a few minutes and it freaked me out). Then we headed to lunch at Hula Hut’s where we had the world’s rudest waiter. I guess you pay for the view and not the service. Jude was good until he started crashing and burning at lunch because he was hot and hungry. The kids were playing at the window at the end of lunch. I love that you can see Jude’s smile in the reflection.

We were all set to go to Sweetberry Farms for our annual pumpkin patch trip. However, the forecast predicted rain most of the morning in Marble Falls. So, we headed in the opposite direction to Evergreen Farm in Elgin. There weren’t as many cute pumpkin picture opportunities, but it was less crowded and there were more free/cheap activities for the kids, so it was a win in my book.
Riding the wagon to the “Pumpkin Hunt,” which is basically small pumpkins hidden among the growing Christmas trees. Each kid get to take two home.
The thrill of the hunt.
Riding the train.
Jason and Joshua got to actually pick their own pumpkin. They found the best looking one in the bunch.
Joe helped Jude shoot a pumpkin slingshot. He was totally tickled.
Daddy’s boy.

Joe and I went to a wedding a few weekends ago for a co-worker of mine. It was extremely hot during the ceremony, which took place outside. The reception was lovely, and food and company were good. We reminisced fondly of our own wedding and enjoyed an evening out without Jude.
In the reception hall/ballroom/whatever you call it, they had a photo booth with props. Here are some pictures of us having a good time with Chelsea, a former co-worker of mine. We probably would have taken like five more sets of pictures (we were having so much fun) but it was time to cut the cake.
The bride and groom.

On the 4th of July, we decided to take Jude to the splash pad at Ricky Guerrero Park in South Austin. What a cool little park! The splash pad was nice and shaded and had lots of different water features for Jude to play with. Too bad Joe and I didn’t pack our swimsuits, because we missed out on some fun. I am hoping that we can go back again this summer and all have a splash.

We had a great Easter. Nice weather, quality family time, and candy for everyone. On Good Friday, we had our 2nd Annual Crawfish Boil with Joe’s family. I didn’t get any pictures with my camera, but believe me, this was an all-out, newspaper on the table, shrimp and crawfish boil.
Saturday morning we went to a community sponsored Easter egg hunt with Joe’s family. There were so many children, but thankfully they separated them by age. We practiced picking up eggs with Jude earlier in the week, but he still look suspicious when it was time to hunt. He also wasn’t too keen on visiting the Easter bunny, so they encouraged Joe to hold Jude while they took the picture. I don’t know if you can tell in the pictures, but Tia Nana bought Jude a baby guayabera (Mexican wedding shirt) that he is wearing. He looked so cool.
Saturday afternoon, we went to Waco to celebrate my mom’s birthday and Easter Sunday. Apparently after one egg hunt, Jude had figured out that he liked candy and went wild when he saw a jar of jelly beans on Mimi’s table. The tantrum monster visited us first on Easter morning, so the Easter Bunny waited to come visit us later when the monster finally calmed down.
I dressed Jude in this nerdy little sailor outfit (I can say that because I am the mom) that my mom just thinks is adorable…which quite frankly, was pretty adorable. He wasn’t too happy about wearing the matching hat (my son hates hats!). By the time we went to Daddio’s, however, Jude was wearing whatever was left in the suitcase, which didn’t quite match. I apparently left the matching shirt and shorts here at home.

Here is a hilarious video of Jude from February. We went to Payne’s birthday party, which was at a gym. Jude was hanging on the uneven bars showing off his strength and talent. It cracks me up every time I watch it.
