The weekend before Halloween, we headed out to to Sweetberry Farms in Marble Falls. I love this place. With the drought this year, there weren’t as many pumpkins as years past, but it was still fun.
Jude rode a barrel train on his own. It almost made me cry to watch him drive away on his own (although it was only going 1 mile an hour), waving to mommy and daddy. At the end of the day, Jude picked out his favorite pumpkin and we ate strawberry popsicles.

We’ve been trying to tell Jude that using the potty is the new cool thing to do. He’s not quite convinced. But he will usually attempt to use the potty before his bath. Last night, he was on the potty and I was trying to make the connection that he can control his bladder muscles. So, I said, “Okay, so you think in your brain, peepee come out now.”
Jude points to his head (since that is what I am modeling) and repeats the phrase. Nothing happens. He tries again with total concentration, but again no results.
With utter disappointment, he looks at me and down towards the potty and says, “It’s broken!” with total heartbreak.

Snow Day everyone! Actually I was let down by the while ordeal. I knew when I got up this morning it wasn’t going to last to long. The snow wasn’t as bad here as in Austin proper, so I was thinking, “Everything is closed for this?”
I wish Jude could have seen the snow falling, like last year. He looked out the window and said, “Mama, SNOW!” I told him he needed socks and shoes to go outside and next thing I know he got himself ready to go. Of course, Jude really wanted to touch the snow. Then he realized that the stuff is cold and doesn’t make your hands feel all that great. He was fascinated by our trail of footprints we made in the snow. It was hard to get him to come back inside.

We were all set to go to Sweetberry Farms for our annual pumpkin patch trip. However, the forecast predicted rain most of the morning in Marble Falls. So, we headed in the opposite direction to Evergreen Farm in Elgin. There weren’t as many cute pumpkin picture opportunities, but it was less crowded and there were more free/cheap activities for the kids, so it was a win in my book.
Riding the wagon to the “Pumpkin Hunt,” which is basically small pumpkins hidden among the growing Christmas trees. Each kid get to take two home.
The thrill of the hunt.
Riding the train.
Jason and Joshua got to actually pick their own pumpkin. They found the best looking one in the bunch.
Joe helped Jude shoot a pumpkin slingshot. He was totally tickled.
Daddy’s boy.
