So, Joe and I have talked about the possibility of using cloth diapers, if not exclusively, then at least in conjunction with our disposable diapers. If you have ever googled “cloth diapers” then you will know that there is a lot of information out there and lots of choices these days. My friend, Jessica, cloth diapers and has written about it on her blog. But, I’ve been more motivated the past few days because Jude has horrible diaper rash on his inner thighs due to the elastic of the diapers rubbing on him. I already have mom guilt for letting that happen, but being a novice mom, things like that are going to happen. So, I hear that cloth diapers are much gentler on baby’s skin.

So, I wanted to start with gDiapers, which are flushable diapers. That’s right folks, flushable. They’ve gotten mixed reviews on the internet, but the starter kit is only $25 and you can pick it up at HEB, so that was my main motivation for starting there. I was just worried about making a big financial investment of the higher end cloth diapers and deciding it was not for us.

But, then I found this on the internet at Baby Cheapskate. Jillian’s Drawers has a program where for $10 (plus a $115 deposit) they will send you their top 5 cloth diaper products to try for 21 days. Then you mail them back and get your deposit back. So, I think I would like to try that next to see if cloth diapering is for us.

So, if you’ve been thinking about cloth diapers, too, you should go over to Baby Cheapskate and enter their drawing for 12 free bumgenius diapers. All you have to do is post a link to the contest and you get an entry.

So, I wanted you guys to know, I am officially a model. Okay, I am kidding, well…sort of…

So, let me start from the beginning. My pal, Jessica, forwarded me a post from one of her parenting/mommy groups from a mom here in Austin that was looking for pregnant ladies to model a line of maternity shirts that she created. I read it, but dismissed it. I’m have a few physical aspects about myself that overall I am okay with (like my crooked teeth), but still self-conscious about when I focus on it. But, to my credit I do have a nicely round belly…or I guess, to the little guy’s credit.

I kept thinking about the e-mail because she was giving away a free shirt and the picture files. Since I never had any professional pictures taken, I thought it would be nice to have some to remember the pregnancy (even though the focus of the pictures would be the shirts and not necessarily me and my pregnancy). So, I decided what the heck, e-mailed the person with a link to my blog and told her to e-mail me back if she was still looking for someone.

So, the lady Aimee responded with the details. I met her and some other pregnant ladies down on South Congress early Saturday morning. It was pretty freakin’ hot for 8:00 in the morning. I was worried I was going to sweat in these brand new shirts. So, we took pictures as group and separately doing different poses. I was trying my best to not look cheese-y or self-conscious. And, in the end I got a really cool shirt (I picked a green one that said “Growing a green baby.”)

So, the pictures are up on the website if you want to check them out. www.dillybaby.com

I think the shirt designs are pretty cute. Nothing too frou-frou and I liked that they were more snug to show off the belly vs. being tent-like. She’s doing a free shipping special, so if anyone is interested in purchasing a shirt for themselves or as a gift for a lovely friend who is due in July [wink, wink], just leave a comment and I will forward you the e-mail with the discount code. Of course, I am one of the last of my friends to get pregnant, so I don’t know too many other preggos, but if you know someone who is expecting, you can direct them to the website.

So, now that I am pretty much famous, Joe will have to give in to my diva-like demands. hahaha!!

So, we haven’t had a proper post about Liam in a while. Joe and I went to the new PetSmart on Brodie today because we have been waiting for information about Doggie Day Camp (the last time we were there, it wasn’t open yet). Well, turns out today was our lucky day. It was the grand opening of the new PetsHotel and if you took a tour you got a free voucher for either boarding or doggie day camp.

So, heck yes, we took that tour. I know some people have heard me mention this PetsHotel before. It’s all indoor boarding, and if you get your dog a “suite” which is a private room, they get their own tv to watch pet related programming like, Air Bud or Animal Planet. If your dog stays there, you can call your pet on the phone to talk to them while you are away. And, of course, for an additional fee, you can get your dog a kong treat or dog friendly, lactose free soft serve. Most of this stuff sounds silly, but I get the sense that they want people to know that they are really going to take care of the animals and they value how important peoples’ pets are to them. I admit, I would get Liam the soft serve because he loves it and I may be stupid enough to call him (but I draw the line at the tv!).

So, after the tour we got our voucher. We’re really excited to give Liam a try at Doggie Day Camp and now we have two free days because we already had a coupon from our Entertainment Pass Book. We’ve been talking about taking him every now and then so he can get out of the house and play with other dogs while we are at work.

So, PetSmart also gave us free toys for Liam after the tour, and while we were at the store, we got him a Longhorn tag for his collar with our address and phone number on it. So, Liam made out like a bandit today. Here are some silly pictures of our little guy and a video of him enjoying his free PetSmart toys (which by the time you see this, he will have probably destroyed already).

Have you seen these commercials where Kashi wants you to “trade in your bad snacks” for a healthy Kashi snack? Well, you can go to the website and make a virtual pledge and they will send you a free sample of one of their new snack foods. I love free stuff and I love getting free stuff in the mail (deodorant…check! swiffer duster….check! lotion…check! bring it on!). I myself signed up for the oatmeal cookie. Honestly, Kashi is hit or miss for me. I like their granola bars, but I would rather eat rocks and milk than their Go Lean! cereal.

So, have a healthy snack on Kashi. You might like it.
