Christmas

…that Jude really looks a lot like Joe. Joe’s aunt Adriana let me borrow Joe’s 6 month baby picture to scan. So, look compare my hubby dumpling to my baby dumpling; both are celebrating their first Christmas. (Well, it looks like Joe is “celebrating” Christmas at the Sears portrait studio…but it is still his holiday picture).

I know these posts are out of order, but I wanted to share some pictures of Jude’s first Christmas. It was quite the marathon day: 3 different families, 2 Christmas meals, a 2 hour car drive, and 1 long nap in the middle of the day. But, it was nice to see everyone that we could.

Jude wishes everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!

I like to pick out gifts for our friends and family members who read the blog pretty regularly. Well, in light of the economy, I’ve decided to skip the extravagant gifts from last year, and get everyone some realistic gifts. These gifts are all, $10 or less. So, were we not so broke, you might have actually received one of these.

pickle

Courtney: pickle band-aids…although the girls will probably steal them from you

mustache

Steve: your own adhesive mustaches

fondue

Sarah: mini fondue because you make the best dessert fondue…EVER!

unicorn

Aron: What is the next best thing to a unicorn tattoo? Unicorn band-aids of course!

chapstick

Jim: F-bomb chapstick  in tribute to the ol’ dodgeball days.

bank

Leah: a piggy bank…because we’re from the same family, so I understand!

plants

Rachel: some cute little plants for your new house.

keychains

The Savilles: you get some cool keychains. Sorry, dudes. Money is tight…you get a family gift.

napoleon

Tia Sara: Napoleon Dynamite sleeping mask, because beauty rest is important to looking good.

 shrinky

Belinda and Thomas: some shrinky dinks for when you guys have to stay up all night and you are tired of going to Wal-Mart.

tonic

Brian: for a cool drink. “Never let go.” — Jack Dawson.

icecream

The Cohens: Some freeze dried ice cream…but you have to share.

tree

The Ordonez Family: a grow your own Christmas tree. It’s decoration. It’s science. It’s cheap!

candycane

Tia Nana: a candy cane shot glass…why the heck not?

I’m sorry if I have excluded anyone, but shopping is tough business. Especially considering that we only have two shopping days left!

Money is no object for us (play along here). So, we purchased our friends and family some amazing gifts that you wouldn’t think to buy for yourselves. Click on your name to open your gift from The Mitchells:

If we have forgotten someone, or you don’t like your gift, please feel free to exchange it for this gift of a pre-paid charter of your own private jet to a destination of your choosing. I do have to say, I would have “bought” more gifts for our family, but a) they don’t read the blog and b) it got to be really exhausting searching for millionaire gifts.

Sad snowman

So I’ve got the Christmas blues, but not because of all the pressure and expectations. I am actually looking forward to Christmas. I guess I should say, I have the Christmas SHOPPING blues. Joe and I go on these four hour treks and come home with nothing. Yesterday we went to the outlet mall in San Marcos and Cabela’s, and the only thing we came back with was frustration that we didn’t have cash to buy the kettle corn at Cabela’s.

I have have to say, that we’ve gotten almost all of his family members’ presents. But the problem is that we have barely scratched the surface on my family. The glass-half full perspective would say, ” You are halfway done.” But, all I can think about is that there is only 9 days left and we’re not done yet. I am even at the point where I think that internet shopping won’t even bail me out.

We’ll I’ve just got to get serious these next few days. We are heading out, once again today. Here’s hoping that I don’t come back empty handed!
